My research is focused on ethnobotany, economic botany, ethnoecology, plant ecology and sustainable use of plant resources in a broad sense. Molecular identification of medicinal plants from trade and ethnobotanical studies using DNA barcoding is also one of my main research activities.

I have a background in plant biology, plant systematics and ecology, and a PhD in ethnobotany and biodiversity resource use. My research is focused on ethnobotany, economic botany, ethnoecology, plant ecology and sustainable use of plant resources in a broad sense. Molecular identification of medicinal plants from trade and ethnobotanical studies using DNA barcoding is also one of my main research activities. DNA barcoding has many applications from forensic botany to authentication of medicinal plants and biodiversity conservation and it can be adapted in ethnobotanical and ethnopharmacological studies. My current project aims at identifying traded orchid species using DNA barcoding method.
